Tree planting brings shades of green to Tegal - thejakartapost.com

The Djarum Trees for Life (DFTL) program continues its campaign to plant trees along the 478-km-long northern coastal highway of Java. A tree-planting ceremony was held on July 11 at Purwahamba Indah Tegal tourism spot, with the Djarum Foundation donating 1,800 seeds of hardy trembesi trees and planting equipment for 18 districts in Kendal Regency.

“Through its consistent commitment, Djarum Trees For Life continues to plant trees and participate in raising the community’s quality of life,” said Djarum Foundation’s vice president director Agus S. Wibawa of the program, begun 33 years ago in Kudus, Central Java.

Dignitaries in attendance at the ceremony included Tegal Regency Secretary Haron Bagas Prakosa, local Police chief Nelson Purba and local Military District Command liaison officer Maj. (inf) Ngadino. Several entertainers from Jakarta also were on hand for the planting.
