Djarum Foundation's Educational Service thru the Djarum Beasiswa Plus program once again reaffirmed its commitment to shaping a competitive plus generation thru the Sejiwa Setanah Air talk show held at Djarum Arena, Kudus, Central Java, on Thursday evening, November 6, 2025.
Witnessed by 534 Beswan Djarum (the term for recipients of the Djarum Beasiswa Plus program) 2024/2025 from 103 universities across 38 provinces in Indonesia, this discussion featured two inspiring speakers: Teten Masduki (Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Alumni Association of the Indonesian University of Education) and Cut Carnelia (Chief Judge of the Kudus District Court, who is also a Beswan Djarum from 1997/1998). The speakers took turns emphasizing the importance of building networks as a strategic strength to drive change across various sectors.
In a dialog session moderated by Andovi da Lopez, both emphasized that networking is not only a means for career development, but also the foundation for building cross-sector collaborations that impact society at large. Networking combined with strong integrity is key for the younger generation to survive and bring about values of change in today's interconnected era. It is hoped that the nation's successors can further understand that the spirit of mutual cooperation in the present can be realized thru the ability to build collaborative, inclusive, and forward-looking networks for the homeland.
Networking isn't just about who we know, but about how we strengthen each other for a common purpose. Collaboration based on values and trust can pave the way for real change. The key is that we are willing to socialize, broaden our horizons as much as possible, build trust, and develop a vision for the public good. The network we build will become stronger if we also have self-integrity. Without that, it would be impossible for creative ideas that bring about change for the better of the nation to be realized," said Teten Masduki.
In line with this, Cut Carnelia emphasized the importance of integrity amidst various challenges and how a healthy network can be a moral force in the face of systemic pressure. The Chief Justice of the Kudus Regency High Court stated that the growth of integrity begins with the closest institution, namely the family. The moral values held since childhood should be firmly adhered to and serve as a foundation for becoming a person of integrity in pursuing one's dreams.
To have integrity, it is important to emphasize that the noble values acquired from parents, customs, religion, and the code of ethics in community life must always be practiced. We must also be sensitive to our surroundings and do things with the integrity we possess. "Don't just stand by if someone tries to disrupt the social, national, and state order," said Cut Carnelia.
The presentations by the two speakers in this talk show served as an inspiration for the 2024/2025 Beswan Djarum cohort to strengthen their integrity and expand their networking in order to become resilient individuals in the future. One of them is Martina, a student from Pontianak, West Kalimantan. He decided to leave his hometown and pursue a bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Law, Padjajaran University, Bandung, West Java.
I am very aware that networking is extremely important for the current generation. For that reason, I left my comfort zone and studied far from my hometown. And from the presentations of the speakers, I now also understand the importance of integrity so that we are not swept away by unhealthy currents. "Integrity is a fence for us as we journey down the path of the future, allowing us to explore ourselves so that we can measure our abilities and what we have," said Martina.
This discussion is part of the Nation Building Djarum Beasiswa Plus 2025 series of activities, one of the important moments in the process of equipping Djarum Beswan to maintain their spirit of nation building. This series was previously initiated with a Cultural Visit, which invited participants to learn about the diversity of cultures and the spirit of mutual cooperation that thrives within the community. They will then practice toward the peak at the Dharma Puruhita Nite performance, this time titled "One Soul, One Homeland," which will be held in Semarang on November 11th. This collaborative performance reflects the brotherhood and togetherness of the Djarum Beswan. This performance can also be watched live on the Djarum Beasiswa Plus YouTube channel.
