After successfully holding three seasons of performances in 2017, 2018, and 2022 with a total of 18 shows, the Musical Adventure of Sherina will once again greet the audience with its latest production. This performance will be held from July 11–20, 2025, at Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, with a total of 15 shows, providing an opportunity for the high enthusiasm towards this musical.
Presented by Jakarta Movin and Indonesia Kaya, and directed by Nuya Susantono, this musical brings back to life the iconic story of Petualangan Sherina (2000) by Miles Films, which tells the tale of a girl named Sherina who has to move to another city due to her father's job. In her new environment, she meets Sadam, a boy who initially always quarrels with her but becomes a friend during a thrilling kidnapping adventure. This story has become part of the collective memory of Indonesia's millennial generation, which is now making a comeback on stage with a fresher touch.
"Indonesia Kaya is always committed to supporting stage performance initiatives like this." Adapting popular works like Petualangan Sherina, which has been around for 25 years, into a musical format is a relevant and inspiring step to introduce performing arts to the wider community. Perhaps many are still not familiar with musical theater, and through works like this, we hope more people can start to recognize, enjoy, and support the growth of performing arts in Indonesia. Moreover, this performance also serves as an enjoyable option to fill the school holidays while simultaneously introducing the arts to the younger generation. Moreover, the spirit of searching for and developing new talents who enliven this musical stage also represents a form of synergy that aligns with our commitment to building a sustainable performing arts ecosystem," said Billy Gamaliel, Program Manager of Indonesia Kaya.
In this season, the Musical Adventure of Sherina comes with a new, more dynamic format and increasingly mature production. The audience will be treated to a richer viewing experience through stage updates that enhance the imagination. All the updated elements are designed to provide a fresh and memorable musical theater experience.
"There will be new surprises in the stage design and special effects, so with the same story, we will experience something new and fresh in this year's Sherina's Adventure Musical," explained Nuya Susantono, Director & Producer of Sherina's Adventure Musical.
This musical will continue to feature legendary songs by Elfa Secioria and Mira Lesmana, such as "Lihatlah Lebih Dekat," "Anak Mami," and "Jagoan," which have been ingrained in the minds of generations of viewers since the film was released in 2000. With new arrangements and a more magnificent stage setup, these songs will revive nostalgia while also delivering a fresh and emotional musical experience.
Not only as a form of entertainment, this musical also serves as a development space for young talents. Several alumni of the roles of Sherina and Sadam from previous years, such as Maisha Kanna, Rara Sudirman, and Quinn Salman, are now well-known in the film and television industry. This year, two pairs of main actors Sherina and Sadam—Gynta & Sahl and Ann & Alf—who have passed the audition process will take turns performing in 15 stage shows that will be held. Similarly, all the cast members undergo intensive training to portray strong, energetic characters that touch the audience's emotions.
"I'm happy to be able to play one of the main characters like Sherina on stage. It all started with watching the movie and musical three years ago, then auditioning for it, and now being able to play Sherina feels very proud," said Gynta & Ann, who played Sherina.
Producer & Lyricist of the songs from the film Petualangan Sherina, Mira Lesmana, and Director of the film Petualangan Sherina (2000), Riri Riza, also expressed their joy that after 25 years since the film first premiered, this story can still be revived through relevant mediums.
"I never expected that this story could continue to be given new life." After 25 years, we are very happy that the story and songs of Petualangan Sherina remain alive and close to the hearts of the people, this time brought back through a musical theater. "We see initiatives like this not only giving birth to new talents in acting but also increasing public interest in theatrical performances," they said.
The high enthusiasm of the audience is evident from the ticket sales, which have reached 90% of the total 15 performances. Until now, only about 400 tickets are still available. For those who want to watch the Musical Adventure of Sherina live, there is still an opportunity to get official tickets through tiket.com before all the seats are fully booked.
